Very similar to C. compressa, but somewhat thinner in appearance and containing many pore-like structures on branches (pustules). Often caespitose, can grow up to 1m, but returns to a small rosette-like form after the fertile period in late spring and summer.
Sheltered bays and areas, with moderate sedimentation rates.
Widespread and common, widely distributed species in the Adriatic. Tolerates and occasionally thrives in moderately polluted areas.
